No. When a kernel update is available by the distro company, I install it at my leisure. The sky isn't falling if you don't install it 'right away'. One time I had a file server system run for more than year before I actually rebooted it on a newer kernel. Not a big deal for most of us, regardless of the tinfoil hat people who would like to convince us otherwise.
