Shortcut keys in Gnome

i tried to set some shortcut keys in gnome to turn my volume up and down but when i press either one it just shoots the volume to the max and then i cant do anything. This didnt use to happed. I have alsa built into the kernel if that helpos. has anyone else had this problem?

The only cause I can think of is a wireless keyboard with a jammed key. If your keyboard is corded, I can't help you.
