Question Shortcut icons missing in Ximain Evolution 1.2.1

All,

I have redhad 8.0 installed. I have upgraded to Ximian
Evolution 1.2.1 When I launch Ximian Evolution I do not see any icons in
my shortcut bar. However, when I hoover my mouse pointer over one of the
default selections (Summary, Inbox, Calendar, Task, etc.) I see the shape
of an icon box but no icons are showing.

Packages Installed:
Window Maker desktop manager
Nvidia Gforce3 with NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-4191 (Compiled from source) Ximian
Evolution 1.2.1 (Set to the defaults other than mail settings) Linux
kernel 2.4.18-19.8.0 + Source

Packages Not Installed:
Gnome
KDE
RedHat-Artworks (did not like Bluecurve)

Any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what caused that, but the easiest way to fix it is probably to reinstall Evolution.

as root:
rpm -q evolution
You should get something like "evolution-1.2.0-1.ximian.1", but it depends on the version.
Then uninstall it with:
rpm -e *what the name above was*

Next go to ximian's website and do the net install, takes a few minutes to download but it's really easy to do. Hope this helps at all.

Nope, did not work. Thanks anyway.
Tried killev before I uninstalled the rpm.
Even deleted the following
/root/.gnome/red-carpet
~/.gnome-private/red-carpet
~/.gnome/red-carpet
~/evolution
/var/cache/redcarpet directory

Finally I just uninstalled the rpm as "su"
Reinstalled the latest from red-carpet.

Same thing. Anyone else care to give it a shot?

Talking Missing Evolutions Icons

Hi,
Ok, I had this same issue but I'm on Core 4 so this may not work. Open a terminal and log in as root

su hit enter
password here hit enter

now type this

rm /usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache

the terminal will display the following

rm: remove regular file `/usr/share/icons/hicolor/icon-theme.cache'?

hit the Y key and hit Enter

then type

rm /usr/share/icons/gnome/icon-theme.cache

hit the Y again and hit enter

Now open the Evolution program again and your icons should appear.

Hope this helped.

Shawn
