shockwave/flash sound :/

I don't get any sound at all with flash/shockwave. Video is fine but no sound at all. Using slackware 9.1 with netscape and mozilla. Couldn't get it to work with firefox either. I have it installed

if you're using KDE, try
1. quit browser
2. Go to K->settings->control center. Under sound&multimedia->sound system deslect "Enable sound system".
3. Restart browser. See if it works.

If this works, the problem is that both the KDE arts (sound) system and your browser fight over the sound device (often /dev/dsp). There is as far as I know no good solution for this. You might try artsdsp, and you might ask the mozilla.org people if firefox will support arts. In the future, there are plans for an desktop environment neutral sound system... but currently, we are all in this mess.

sorry for the rush question I was at school when I did that. Yea I'm on KDE and I though it would be something like that. Thanks for the response. I wish I was familiar with programming under linux and well programming in c/c++ to help on that project :/ good luck to the people doing it!

Lightbulb

I managed to get mine working (Ffox 0.8 on KDE 3.2 / Mdk 10) by making KDE use ALSA in the sound settings.

That way my KDE sounds work, and I get sound in Ffox using shockwave.
