Sharing MPlayer codecs across different distros/partitions?
I have Gentoo 2005.1 on /dev/hda1 and Slackware 10.1 on /dev/hdb1. I need to use the MPlayer codecs with Xine, so that I can view certain types of media. My Slack partition has these already (and is mounted on /mnt/slack in Gentoo) and I'm just wondering whether it's safe to point Xine to /mnt/slack/path/to/codecs, or should I just download the codecs again and install them on my Gentoo partition?
Thanks.
