ShareTheNet 2.13

I've build a simpel router from an old P133. Took out the HD, cd drive etc just the processor, 8 mb and graphicscard are still in there (more sillent isn't possible, only sound is the powersupply fan). I used ShareTheNet to get a bootable floppy and put in my cablenetworkcard (@home, Farallon Tulip driver) and a Realtek networkcard which seems to be supported.
The router is then connected to my Edimax ES-3108P switch (just plugged it into one of the 8 ports) and used the other free ports to connect to my pc's (two). First I'd like to know if the setup: cable - router pc - switch - clients is the right one. Second I've found that ShareTheNet 2.13 is no longer supported, I believe it stopped somewhere in 2001. Does anyone no any software that is still being developed and does about the same (making a bootable floppy to boot from and use as a router)?
Final question: I use normal udp cables, I guess I don't need cross, is this correct aswell?

If there is new software that works this way, I'd really like it to be installed from linux. Kinda weird that ShareTheNet is running from windows to build a linux router diskette!

Long story, sorry, hope that someone knows his networking and can help me out.

Regards
