Setting up ZoneMinder

Hello all!
So I have Zoneminder installed and mostly setup but I'm stuck. The problem is that I have No picture on the feed page and the source "/dev/video0" is red.

Ask any questions you need and I will answer

Thanks!!

Depends on your camera really. What is the output format from the camera ?

OK a little progress....I think.

I ran the command:
Code:
sudo usermod -a -G video www-data
and
Code:
sudo /etc/init.d/zoneminder restart
and now I have a black screen. But its solid black. Meaning even when I hold a lighter up to it, It shows nothing. Also....my webcam light doesnt turn on....does that mean anything?

You have to play with the ZM settings. You should test it from another computer with firefox and see if you get an image through.
I take it you've set the monitor function and the url for accessing it remotely ?

I tried it with firefox. Same thing. Is there a way to diagnose where the problem actually lies?

You can do this faster if you read the ZM forums and readme's.
Did you try everything in that link I posted ?

Its your ZM config that's probably to blame. You have to fiddle with the ZM monitor settings

Yea, I actually do read the manuals lol. I've been researching this for days and only came here as a last resort. I guess I can ask elsewhere if necessary...

Well if it works in xawtv then there is a good chance it should work with ZM. But there are lots of settings.
