Setting up xmms/alsa for 5.1 playback

Hm, I'm not really sure what to do. I have a sound blaster live pci card and its showing up fine and the mixer seems to be working but I'm not sure what I have to change to make 5.1 sound work. I told it to use the ALSA driver for playback and set the mixer to "Surround" but I'm not sure if I have to configure something else in alsaconfig or what not. Any help would be appreciated.

You will need to unmute the surround channels to get sound through them and they are muted by default.

Also XMMS won't use all the speakers since your average media file is stereo that'll only use your front two. You can hack some config files to get it to play the front two channels through all the speakers but that falls over when you watcha DVD or something with true surround since the front channels are coming out all the speakers.
