setting up video streaming over overlay network using
Hi,
I'm a master's student who's trying to implement a distributed systems class project (non-commercial use, and only for the duration of the course). The project is based on overlay network creation.
The system consists of one server and multiple clients connected over an overlay tree. They have TCP socket connections between them The idea is to send the video stream using this setup to each of the clients along the tree. I want to demonstrate that the system is capable of sending live video stream across to the client computers.
I downloaded the source code for the mpeg4ip project and went over the code for the player.
I'd like to know is if it is possible to somehow pipe the incoming video stream to the player on the client side?
Is it possible to intercept the video transmission at the server end and send it through my network to the client end. At the client I'd like to be able to feed the stream being received to the player (viewer).
Has anybody has any experience doing this (using either mpeg4ip or similar product) ?
Any pointers regarding this would be useful for me.
I'd appreciate if you can give me some pointers about how the RTP protocol works and what kind of input the player expects.
Thanks for your time,
