I have that same NIC card. The best way to set it up is to create the connection manually. I use madwifi drivers, so there may be a few differences if you use a different driver.

I'm not sure about suse in specific, but usually I do this:

# cd /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices
# vim ifcfg-ath0

Vim will open, and you put the following in it:
DEVICE=ath0
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
USERCTL=yes
PEERDNS=yes
TYPE=Ethernet
MODE=managed

then :wq out of vim and back to the terminal:

# cd ../../network-scripts
# ln /etc/sysconfig/networking/devices/ifcfg-ath0

And that should be it. I'm not sure where Suse keeps its network connections. If you get a "could not find directory", you'll know I have it wrong. Also if you're running an ad-hoc network, you'll have to change MODE to ad-hoc, I believe.

EDIT: I'm not sure what to do about your sound card, though.
