Setting up Software Raid 1 on a Remote Server

Anyone set up Software RAID on a remote server? I have a server with a couple of drives that I'd like to get going with a bit more redundancy (and increased read speed to boot).

Ideally, it would boot up OK if the primary disk failed (without having to have someone at the data center switch the primary and secondary around).

And it would be have to be a process I could follow without going down to single user/console mode. Not having physical access and all.

I'm particularly interested in anyone's experience with evms (per evms.sourceforge.net). It sounds like there is a patched version of lilo which would permit evms to boot up off one of its RAIDed volumes. But I wasn't able to find much evidence of anyone using evms in production situations.

Does anyone have any URLs they could share, or battle stories?

Please excuse the bump. Has anyone set up a bootable raid1 server remotely?
