I am new to html and apache. I have setup apache 2.0, registered the domain name,have a static ip,pointed the registrar of my domain name to my name server, created my website using NVU but here is my really stupid question. Where would I upload my website on my apache box and what is the proper way of testing if it works ok. Also some security tips would help. thanks

I believe you upload it to the /var/www directory. You should check the apache documentation and the httpd.conf (?) file. If you want to use personal web pages (like www.domain.com/~username), you have to enable it in the config files and then you upload to /home/username/public_html directory.

As for checking your website, you should just try to connect to it with a web browser (actually with multiple web browsers). If you don't alter the path in the config file, there should be a "Welcome to Apache" type web page the first time you connect to it. It may even tell you where to change the setting and where to upload.
