Setting up a mailserver in conjunction with ZoneEdit

I've never attempted to set up a mail server before, but I think it would be rather useful to have my own mail-server.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any step-by-damn-step guide for mailservers, and they aren't the easiest to configure neither.

Additionally, I use ZoneEdit and I have a dynamic IP.

ZoneEdit has a url that you put your user/pass and domain name to sync to the IP. You can use wget or lynx or whatnot in a cronjob to sync the IP.

ZoneEdit has "mx records" and such in the configuration, and, they require you to put the "IP" of the mailserver in.

My IP changes frequently, do I have to use this MX record thing and visit the site daily? They don't have a feature for updating the MX records dynamically. Will this affect my ability here?

Thanks for anyone who replies, as always,

regards,
Jon
