first find out if you have a winmodem, http://www.linmodems.org/... get the scan modem tool and see what it detects. It tells you what driver you need and if I remember correctly were to get it. If you do then good luck, still workin on mine :-)

This I have done -and I do have a winmodem. But now I think I found a driver, is there any reason I can't download it and cut it to CD and then install it from there?

Not that I know of. But if it is source code (.tar.gz) then you'll have to unpack it onto your hardrive and work on the installation there.

Here's a site that I have found that may have good info... (at least it has alot of stuff to try if things don't go right)
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/post-install.html
but then again there is lots of other information out there and I found that on my latest attempt to get the d*** thing working. Perhaps someone else can provide some websites with better explainations?
