Setting Library paths RedHAT9 (N00B)

i need to install a software and I need the libraries in the path "/opt/gcc-2.95.3/lib" to be recognised dynamically when compiling programs.

I whant to set a temporary (or extra/permanent) path to be checked whenever compiling programs as it doesn,t seem to read one of the required files!

1) How do I do this on Redhat 9?
2) How do I know which libraries are bieng used and also their location (path) when I install a software? please help!

Anyhelp and advice is aprreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, if you want to trust advice from another noob, here goes, at least for your first question. Try adding the path of your "new" library to the end of the file /etc/ and rerun your make.
Good luck!
