setting ftp transfer size

The disty of RH we use, Shrike, is doing ftp xfers in 1k/hash. The place where I'm getting the files from has a logical mount to it specified in /etc/fstab and the read and write sizes are set to 8192. Even with that setting, I still only get 1024 bytes per hash, which is way too small.

Suggestions?
thx,
tom

1k/hash? I'm not quite sure which transfer size you wish to set here... on ftp, there is no predetermined transfer size that I'm aware of.
