Unhappy setting default samba server to on caused boot hang (suse 9)

Hi.

I had a great SuSE 9.0 Pro set-up and I decided to "start" the samba server. I accepted the default settings in Yast2 (the gui in SuSE..pretty nice overall)....

On reboot, the box hangs at the samba server startup line (all prior lines ended with "yes" per the SuSE standard feedback on boot when you type the f2 key (to get more data than a progress bar).

Does anyone know a quick and simple way to get things back to working...I don't care about smb.....

Can I fix things via the SuSE 9 installer DVD repair mode?

Can I get to a text/shell window if another boot mode (safe mode, etc...I have never tried these)?

Thanks in advance!

JB

Yes, when it hangs, get to that window by pressing CTRL+ALT+F2,3,4,5, or 6. There are six different login points there to help you get into YAST2.

Yes, YAST2 runs in text mode too ;=)

Then uninstall it and try again , bro.
