setserial /dev/ttyS4 (settings)

I need to read those settings. How does one do it? I tried opening /dev/ttyS4 with an editor but that didn't work. Thanks for any assistance you can give.

???

not sure if I understand you. If you want to read settings that setserial prints on your screen, you can use:
Code:
setserial /dev/ttyS4 > ~/some.file
it will store info in some.file in your home dir.
