ServerLayout - Not a recognized section

Edit: solved the first problem with the config file by going back to the old version of X... I got a new one now. Here it is.

I recently ran a dist-upgrade on my Debian machine to testing. Everything worked fine except for two things.

The major problem is that X is broken. When I run startx is gives me an error message saying "Fatal Server Error: no screens found
fatal IO error 104 (connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0"
after 0 requests (0 known processes) with 0 events remaining"

Can anyone offer any insight as to how I can fix this?

Also, a minor problem. Openoffice got upgraded to version 1.0.1 and now when I try to type certain characters (such as ") in MS TrueType fonts it makes a questions mark instead.

Any help is greatly apprectiated, thank you.

You probably wiped out your XF86Config file. That or the old version's config was too oddball to be added to the new config. You'll need to resetup xwindows. This goes for your keyboard as well.

Ok... my XF86Config file is fine. Now when I try to start up X it just flashes four times and then returns to a command prompt saying no screen found (see above)
