Server error

I have upgrade the kernel by installing the kernelxxx.rpm , but it pop the below error when reboot to the new kernel as below,

ERROR: /bin/insmod exited abnormally!

Loading mptbase.o module

Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid
IO or IRQ parameters

could suggest what is the problem when upgrade the server ?

is it the system can't detect the hardware ( eg. scsi card ) ? thx

There is usually a kernel-BOOT-xxx.rpm. Install that too and it SHOULD take care of your problem.

You should be able to boot your old kernel (you didn't remove it, did you?) and while in the machine, download and install the kenel-BOOT rpm. That will fix the new kernel you installed. Once done, you should be able to reboot into the new kernel.
