server crashes with software raid
 

hey guys!

anyone got experience with rh80 and software raid? i worked a few days on a testserver system and tried to get a hpt370 raid controller running.

Finally i gave it up and went for software raid. All semmed good, "hdparm -t" gave me ~45MB/s and I was content.

But now I experience the problem that the server stays up only for about 45 minutes and then crashes ...

help would be appr. thx.

Mars needs women and LQ responders need logs. Anything you can recover that you think may relate to the crash.

Also it would be helpful if you could tell us what hardware you're using and how you have it setup and connected.

Just another example that you shouldn't rely on software RAIDs ...
