Server crash, trying to recover mysql data from old HD?

After a recent crash I'm trying to find all my mysql files for my forums and am not having any luck.

They use to be in the following directory: /var/lib/mysql/layitlow_com

But now that directory does not exist (my hosting company attached my old HDD to the server and I mounted it by typing "mount /dev/hdb3 /old" but I can find no /old/var/lib/mysql/layitlow_com directory. There is a bunch of files under lost+found but when I do a search for one of the common forum files like "find / -name ibf_posts.MYD" nothing comes back.

So am I basically out of luck and need to start kicking myself for not backing up more often?

Oh, and I'm basically a know-nothing when it comes to Linux, so please bear with me.

After checking with someone else I was told to see if there was more partitions on the drive and this is what I found:

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdb1 * 1 13 104391 83 Linux
/dev/hdb2 14 142 1036192+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hdb3 143 4983 38885332+ 83 Linux

I tried mounting those, hdb2 wouldn't mount and there are none of the mysql files on hdb1.

Any other suggestions?

One last attempt and then I'll realize defeat.
