Unhappy

I recently installed the latest RPM package on RedHat 6.2 ( Kernel 2.2.16-3 ), and when next attempting to install the 2.2.19 kernel this nifty message appears:

error: cannot open Depends index using db1 - Invalid argument (22)

I can't remove nor install any RPMs now. ARGH!!! :|

Anyone help?

this probably won't work but it's a good starting point,

login as root
in a terminal window type rpm --rebuilddb

that should rebuild the /var/lib/rpm files.

Smile THANK YOU!!!

Both for your prompt reply and valuable advice, it is very much appreciated.

The DB rebuild took about one minute and after this everything worked perfectly,
2.2.19 now has the honour of being the default boot

Again, many thanks, this has relieved one serious headache!
