Then I guess he used firefox shared version not static one.

I'm afraid they have not produced dynamically-linked Firefox for quite some time, though. In any case, I agree with you that it's a good idea to clean the slate by uninstalling all versions of Firefox and re-installing the official 1.0 from the scratch.
