squirrel mail is just a webmail front end for imap

i use sendmail with spamassassin using DCC and RAZOR2
i use pop3d and imapd
i also have squirrel mail.

never had a problem, you will get people saying sendmail uses too many resources and stuff like that, but if you don't have 10000 email accounts it really doesn't matter.

Mail servers

Sendmail - most widely used, web help is easily available, multitude of configuration options, harder to setup. Very stable.
Postfix (my pick) - very simple to get up and running, web help is easily available. Very stable
Qmail - Sorry - never used it...

My 2 cents,

I use qmail as my MTA (with the ssp patch) + Spamassassin, ClamAV, CourierIMAP, and Horde.

I have also used Postfix in the past, and like that as well. I have two major complaints with sendmail. First is no support for Maildir's. Maildir's are much better then mbox, especially if you happen to use NFS. Second is the amount of people that seam to run open relays because of bad sendmail configs. If you use sendmail, make sure your not an open relay.

What originally drew me towards qmail was security. Qmail 1.0.3 came out in 1998 and still hasn't been hacked.

Postfix -> Easy setup but have to read ( look oup with open relay )
