Question Sendmail takes too mush system resources

Hello!

I have Sendmail installed on my mail server. Server runs on RedHat9.0
and Sendmail 8.13.X. It works like "copymail". Recives mail, puts it to local mailbox and sends copy of the mail to other host.

So, while reciving 50 mail flows, 1Gb in each, sendmail runs too much his own copies(~200), and the system saids that there is leak of memory, or just stops respond to any actions...

And the hardware is: P4 3GHz, 512 of Ram.
Note: the hardware won't be changed.

How can I reduce memory usage or number of Sendmail's running at the time???

P.S. Sendmail configuration almost all by default.
