sendmail: "permission denied" when using include:/file

I'm having problems with local flat e-mail lists. I just created a new alias file, consisting of a few e-mail addresses. However, when I try to send mail to it, I get this error from mailer-deamon:

550 5.2.4 :include: /home/sohmc/maillists/movie.email.list... Cannot open /home/sohmc/maillists/movie.email.list:
+Permission denied

the entry in /etc/aliases looks like this:
movie::include:/home/sohmc/maillists/movie.email.list

I chowned it to root and chmod'd 777 and still doesn't work...

any suggestions?

What are the permissions on /home, /home/sohmc and /home/sohmc/maillists - they all need to be at least 701 so the sendmail user can read them.

cheers

Jamie...
