sendmail doesn't deliver to users

I am trying to reform my mail system with fetchmail and sylpheed, giving up KMail (btw, do you think this is a wise choice?). However I have already run into a lot of trouble. When I try to send a mail locally to a user with mutt, the mail is never delivered. Yet when, as a user, I send it to root, it gets delievered.

Is it sendmail that is supposed to take care of this? Since I am using Redhat, everything came preconfigured, and I'm hopeless as to what to change. What could be the reason of that??
Thanks for your help!
