sendmail config question ... adjust the delivery retry time

I am not sure if this is even my problem but I want to give it a shot.

In my maillogs I see this error:

Code:
maillog-20140531.gz:May 30 14:29:13 smtp01 sendmail[20012]: s4UITCSH020008: to=<admin@wherever.com>, delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=esmtp, pri=153765, relay=aspmx.l.google.com. [my ip address], dsn=5.0.0, stat=Service unavailable
Then 8 hours later a successful delivery.

Is there a way I can change that retry timeout from 8 hours to say 15 minutes?

Just add -q15m to your sendmail startup command. Different ways to accomplish this, what distro are you using?

You will need to edit the sendmail file which is here on my centos 6.5 install:

Code:
# cat /etc/sysconfig/sendmail
DAEMON=yes
QUEUE=1h
Change QUEUE to whatever you would like. 15m for example. Then restart the services.
