sendmail

Hello

I am having problems sending mail. I am using RH 7.1 I can receive incomming mail and send internal mail. But I get an error when sending external. The error says the server does not relay. I went in and changed the access file to allow relay from my servers ip same error. Its on the outside of my fire wall so thats not blocking it. I can ping yahoo and my gw is correct any ideas?

Am I correct in assuming the the sendmail daemon is running on the
same machine from where you are trying to send the mail?

And in your

#*****************************************************************************#
#
# file : /etc/mail/local-host-names
#
#*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*#
#
# All alias names (CNAME and MX records) for the localhost must be included.
#
#.............................................................................#

have you included all alias names (CNAME and MX records) for the localhost on which the sendmail daemon is running?

And you also need to check /etc/mail/access

#*****************************************************************************#
#
# file : /etc/mail/access
#
#*---------------------------------------------------------------------------*#
#
localhost RELAY
localhost.localdomain RELAY
#
yourdomain.COM RELAY
^^^^^^^^^^^

change that to your actual domain name of course!
