sending video with skype crashes connection

Skype is quite nice, only I have one issue with it:
Whenever I send live video with my calls, the connection crashes after a few seconds. I can receive video and send and receive voice without problems (crashes), just can't send video.
I did notice that my CPU usage spikes to 100 % when a crash happens, I think always, at least often. But I have no idea whether there is any causal connection.

Does anybody have an idea what is going on and how to fix it?

Thank you for any help!

Hardwareell Inspiron 1501,
2 x ADM Athlon(tm)64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-53, system set up as 32bit, not 64 bit.

Software:Fedora 8, GNOME,
Skype 2.0 (beta)

User: New to Linux, please explain even the 'obvious' stuff.
