Sending delayed email with Evolution

Greetings!

I'm new to Evolution email (v2.2.2) and I am trying to set up a delayed email message - For example: an email that I can compose and save right now, but it will actually send 5 days later.

How would I go about doing this?

I've already tried a few things unsuccessfully.
New Mail Message -> Insert dropdown menu -> Send Options ->
Inside the Send Options dialog there is a checkbox for "Delay message delivery".
You can check this box and then specify a future date and time for your message to be sent.
After setting up a desired date and time, I click Ok, and then click the Send button to save my message.
The problem is that Evolution immediately sends out the message and ignores my Delayed Email setting.
I also tried saving to Drafts but this seems to clear the "Delay message delivery" setting.

Also, inside the Calendar.
If you create a New Appointment, check the Alarm box, click the Customize button, click the Add button, click on the Alarm dropdown listbox, there is an entry for Email but it is greyed out and unable to be selected. So it looks like I can't send a reminder via email using the calendar either...

Any help would be highly appreciated!
Thanks!

Can anyone recommend another app that allows you to schedule emails to be sent on a specific date/time ?

Hi, if you'd like this feature please go here, create an account and press the thumbs up button:

Weird that a menu would have that feature/option but grey it out. It's been quite a while since I've used Evolution... does it support add-on/plug-ins? If so, I'd check that repository for one that does delayed mailing.

If changing mail clients is an option: Thunderbird has a delayed-send add-on for the "Write" function that implements that function. You access it either via File->Send Later or via another add-on that adds a button for delayed-send.

HTH...

Let's just keep in mind that this thread is 15 years old.
That said, it would be a useful feature which currently doesn't seem to be available for Evolution (and I have become partial to this client). I can think of a few ways to schedule email sending, but not built into Evolution.

Yes, the link above is for a feature request to develop exactly such a plugin. Vote for it and we may get it soon. :-)

I don't see any obvious "vote" button. And anyhow, does that not a require (gitlab.)Gnome account?
