Selective backup to CDRW, or other backup methods.
Ok, so I'm up and running.... I've got a Mirror going for my /home/ directory so my website stuff will never die. But the questions is: What about all those .conf files, and edited files that it took to get where I am now. What if my primary drive dies and I'm forced to reinstall? Wouldn't it be great to have a backup of all my config files so that I won't have to troubleshoot all that over again?
Idea: ok, a CDRW backup program that you can tell it directory's and or files to backup; save as a batch so you don't have to reselect the same files again when you do a backup again you just have to add files that need to be added to your regular backup cycle and hit backup. Or, a program that would do it automatically? What is the best backup program? Pros/Cons of different types of backups? I use Ghost for windows machines and you just write the image and the system boots like it always has. I tried it on Redhat 8.0 when I had a bad drive and when I booted I got a GRUB error and it wanted me to troubleshoot the boot sector or something. Ideas? Thoughts? Complaints about such a long winded, d00d should RTFM, do your own research, type post? :p John |
