seeking some office distribution in rhel 5.4 for free
 
for office oriented work what type of free software can be used in RHEL 5.4 i386- at the same time suggest how to download and how to install. i am a beginner in linux.

You probably want to use openoffice it has everything you would need.

Look at the man page for yum for information on how to install software.

you are using rhel5.4 and NOT 5.5 or 5.6
SO YOU ARE paying for the EXTENDED license and CAN NOT - for some reason-- upgrade to 5.5 ( or 5.6)

seeing as you are paying red hat a very large sum of cash for staying with 5.4

ask your paid for support


or install CentOS 5.5
the free version of red hat .
