Seeking recommendation for remote control software

OK, here's the deal. Like most people in the IT industry, I serve as my families help desk. I'm running Linux and they are running Windows. Can someone recommend an affordable solution that would let me remotely take over their computer or at the very least see what they are doing on my monitor?

Regards,

I think that VNC might do the trick. If I remember correctly, Windows doesn't have the concept of multiple terminals the way X does, so if you run the VNC server on the windows box, you're seeing the same screen they do.

TightVNC.

Small, free, and easy to use. There are binaries for Windows and Linux and a bunch of other OSes too.

For Windows machine, you will see their actual screen, not your own session as with *nix.
