How do I un-tangle and do-over my DropBox contents over several devices?

I've tried stopping the app and removing content from all but my primary workstation. Turned sync off... I followed that with re-work of the contents as seen from the primary workstation. When I start to reconnect my devices, I get the old contents back. I'm stumped.

My laptop is my primary workstation. I added DropBox, made some folders, and added some files.
Next, I added DropBox to my tower workstation/server...
... and my wife's win-dose workstation...
Then I added DropBox to my 'droid phone...
... then my 'droid tablet.
Then ...

Now I have a double handful of devices with DropBox and connections to the same file store. I'm having better luck with my yard's crabgrass.
