Searched, but could not find any linus equivalent to Band-In-A-Box software. SOS.

Hi, everyone. I'm totally new to this site. Is there a linux equivalent to the Windows Band-in-a-Box software, that enables one to enter music chords into the program and have a full backup band play back the entire chords of a song?

I am planning to purchase a linux OS computer, either a Dell or some other more specific lunix-built computer very, very soon--if not immediately.

Your response to my question will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much.

It appears that at least some versions of "Band-in-a-Box" run under Wine (a program for Linux that runs Windows programs):

rosegarden is probably the closest that I know of. But it's not a band in a box, it's just a midi editor. Wine with a compatible version is probably your best bet. Otherwise freshmeat.net or sourceforge.org might help you identify something similar. None of which will be as refined as band in a box. Or at least are less likely to be. It would be nice if such manufacturers had native linux versions. But probably not likely just yet. Wine has forked off into a number of more commercial versions, not that the latest will work under those, but it might be worth checking out crossover office / cedega / wineX / whatever it goes by these days.
