Because the main menu after installation, but especially after installing software is a big mess, I want to install a menu editor. The included menu editors were all useless because they did not show the current menu layout, or because changes were not made, or were set incorrectly. So now I am looking for a menu editor that does its job well. Does anyone have an idea which menu editor is the best? I would like to hear from you. Sincerely, Karel.
it seems to boil down to
alacarte
kmenuedit (not recommended if you don't use KDE)
menulibre
mozo
I've tried them all, including edubuntu menu editor, and they all give bad results. That is why I wonder if there is a configuration file with one or more of these packages that I can use to change certain settings so that it works correctly? Maybe someone has experience with that, or knows more about this. I would love to hear from someone. Sincerely, Karel.
Define "bad results".
Maybe they all give the same "bad results"? That might point to a problem outside of the software being used.
See my first message. They do not all give the same wrong result. Each package has different errors, but they are not all flawless. It may not be the software in the menu, but the menu editors themselves who make the errors. But because the choice is limited in menu editors, I wonder if there are any configuration files that can be edited, so that the editors display the correct menu and make the right changes. I would like to know more about this. Sincerely, Karel.
