What do you mean by not detected.
Meaning the scsi card does not see it?
The kernel does not see it on boot?
Are there other scsi devices on the same scsi card, same cable, and do they work fine?
Or do you mean a cd recording software does not see it?
Which software you trying to use?
Distro?
Version?
Kernal version
Gui and version?

under 2.4 kernel i run cdrecord -scanbus
it detects Scsi
under 2.6 -
Cdrecord 2.00.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jörg Schilling
cdrecord: No such file or directory. Cannot open '/dev/pg*'. Cannot open SCSI driver.
cdrecord: For possible targets try 'cdrecord -scanbus'. Make sure you are root.
cdrecord: For possible transport specifiers try 'cdrecord dev=help'.

And ... any hints of it in 'dmesg' or 'cat /proc/scsi/scsi'?

Cheers,

What is the make, model, and version of the scsi controller. To me it does not look like it is loaded. And by the output of cat /proc/scsi/scsi it does not see any scsi / usb / firewire / sata devices.

That is a Network Card not a Scsi card. Is the question still related to the scsi cdrw drive?
