I have my latest CV in Scribus, which has movable text boxes and is really a Quark Xpress clone. I need to convert to m$ doc for brain dead agencies in this country. Scribus is not fond of copy 'n' paste. My options are:
Save to: file.sla; file.sla.gz
Export to: file.pdf; file.eps; file.svg or the following picture files
.bmp .jpeg .pcm. .pgm .png .xbm .xpm
The problem is that there is an infinitely variable amount of space between the text boxes. I don't need an alterable file, I just need something that opens in m$ word and prints. Because of my background, I have to tweak this for nearly every job. I have tried shareware converters but they don't seem to work under wine.
Not sure how well this will work for you, but OpenOffice 3 has an extension available at http://extensions.services.openoffic...ject/pdfimport for importing PDFs into its draw module for editing. These can be saved as ODF files and, I would think, .doc files. Scribus exports PDF files. Just be sure to use PDF 1.4 for the import extension to work.

Thanks penguinator. I never knew.
I have grabbed the x86_64 version and can get that manually into another linux OS (I have fedora & slamd64; Slamd has OO_3.x which the thing needs but fedora has the WiFi singing, so ATM I have to fart about)
I did manage it this way: Export the three pages as jpegs, and use them as a read only CV. Nobody else should be writing my cv anyhow :-). I have sent it off to my previous manager to see if it behaves.
Right - I have this installed. It's good, but not good enough.
It imports into Draw or Impress - as a picture. I can make minor changes such as changing a date, but beyond that it is cumbersome. Then I can only save as a drawing, not as a document
The Exact Problem is this: Scribus allows infinitely variable space between text boxes. So, for example, I could have one line where I had some writing and further along the same line I could have text slightly up or down on that (e.g. 1/2 line up). So word processor format can do that. In a word, Scribus shapes space, whereas word processors shape text.
Realizing this, it will never happen. I can approximate, and perhaps I should take that route.
