Screwed uo my boot loader--badly.

I was changing my *nix OS so I deleted the partition. After, I realized that the boot loader was on it! Now I can't get into Windows! Is there any way to get into windows to fix this? If I can get into windows, how would I put it back to the regular bootloader?

Thanks

PS: I could post this because i am using my mom's computer.

Normally, the bootloader is on the mbr--not a partition. What is the overall setup? eg do you have a windows partition, 2-3 Linux partitions, etc.?

You can always restore the Windows mbr by booting up with the Windows install disk--rescue mode--console--"fixmbr".

You can also re-install Linux and get a boot-loader that way.

So, I am installing FC5 right now (well, I am in the settings area). Will it restore GRUB later?

Yes, when you install FC5, it will reinstall Grub. It will --Edit-- should --Edit-- automatically detect Windows and you will once again be able to boot to it.

FIXED: Hooray! FC5 installed flawlessly installed. I am using it right now. Windows has returned to the bootloader, but it is under "other". How can I change this? I am completely used to SuSE now and I don't know where anything is in Fedora's GNOME.

Look at the config file for grub---probably /boot/grub/menu.lst This should show you why Windows appears as it does. Edit the file to taste.
