Screen shifted left 8 inches with Chips and Technologies 69030 Graphics

Hi, I just finished installing the Fedora Core 6.0 on this old system which has a PIII 700Mhz with Chips and Technologies 69030 Graphics Card on Board. Now with the Xserver the screen is shifted to left by 8 inches, then there is a black patch(4 inches) and then I see the 4 inches of the missing screen on the right side. Have alrady tried all the possible options and also reconfigured the xorg.conf no change. the driver being used is "chips" and with "vesa" it is not working. So please let me know if there is anything else I can try.

Cheers
Girish

See if you can fix the problem with xvidtune. Another thing to try is use "gtf" to generate the modelines yourself.

Moved: This thread is more suitable in Linux-Software and has been moved accordingly to help your thread/question get the exposure it deserves.

jschiwal's suggestion is good. Use xvidtune and find the right settings. Then you can click to show the right modeline, which you copy to xorg.conf
