i am using fedora 8. i am having only the in built screen savers. can i use any software which will show picture which i save in a folder as screen saver just like windows. please tell. thanx in advance.
I believe you don't need extra software.
What are the screen savers you have listed in "System/Preferences/Look and feel/Screensavers" menu entry ?
There is one named "Pictures folder" ? If yes, just drop your images on a folder named "Pictures" at your home directory.
There is another one named "F-Spot photos" ? This one will use photos anywhere in your disk, that you put the tag "Favorites" on it using the program F-Spot.
BTW, the nice gnome program "wallpapoz" could change your background using images/photos you provide somewhere in your disk. Just "yum install wallpapoz" to get it.

cheers,
sir i am not getting the path for picture file. please help.
can you develop your question a bit more, please ?
actualy you ask me to find the Picture folder in System/Preferences/Look and feel/Screensavers. but there is no such path. can you tell me the path please.
No, It is not a path to a file/directory. Pay attention, I said "...ensavers menu entry ?" It is a way throught the gnome menu system. Do you have a menu bar on your desktop ? That menu bar has a System entry just after "Applications and Places" ? In the first level of menus, there is one named "Preferences"....well you got the idea.

yes that i know. i can go to that and can find Picture folder. but how to store my desired pictures in that folder.
well, it is as simple as store a file in any other folder. Nothing special. It is a regular folder.
Just copy/move your files from whatever they are to the Pictures folder. I mean, a folder named "Pictures" in your home dir, just I said in my first post.
i have made a directory named Pictures in my home directory but still no preview is coming.
ahhh! now we are getting somewhere !
There are two ways to get a preview. Just selecting the "Pictures folder" screensaver theme (and you seed the fictures on the right canvas) and to pressing the "preview" button and get a full screensaver preview of your pictures. Both don't do nothing ?
Try to logout and login again or update your system. Mine is working, I don't have any other idea, sorry.
Try the F-Spot theme too. It not need a special folder. All pictures tagged as favorite will be used by that screensaver.
