scp -r copies files repeatedly

Hi,

I'm using scp -r to copy a directory of files to a server. The weird thing is, scp seems to do the files in a random order (not a problem, they're all going up), but it also seems to repeat files and re-upload files that it has already uploaded (this is a problem as it uses time and bandwidth).

Is that something it does - or there another reason?

Anybody scp savvy?

Cheers
Moray

Maybe you have links which point to the directory tree you're copying. Indeed, the recursion of scp follows symbolic links.

My apologies - I was being a clown! The telnet column was truncating the file name so it looked like it was repeating files as it only showed 2 at the end when it was 22,23,24 etc.

A non-issue, but thanks for the tip.

Cheers
