scheduling backups in Luckybackup

I decided to use the scheduling option in Luckybackup, since I'm getting better at remembering to back up but still often forget to. In order for the scheduled backups to occur, do I have to keep Luckybackup open or is it (not the backup tasks, Luckybackup itself) supposed to run automatically? I don't have much experience crontabbing.

I can't speak for Luckybackup itself, but normally when you schedule an application to be run in crontab, it will start that application itself i.e. you don't need to have it running or keep it open.
