schedule program

Ok here is the deal
I have a client who wants to setup a computerized schdule for his AC Techs. Basically want to cover the who, where, and when. This is the easy part.

The hard part is he is too cheap to buy new systems or software. He currently has 2 Dell PC running win XP an older Dell running windows ME and a P4 custom built system running Windows 2000 Pro. He has a P3 500Mhz Gateway system.

What I am looking for is a good schedule program that will reside on a Linux Install (This is to keep his secretary off of the system) and a front end package that will run on a a windows platform (as listed above)

I was thinking something utilizing MYSQL, but I am not versed enough on how it works. I only know about it from bits and pieces I have seen other people use.
