/sbin/loader freeze in Redhat 7.1 install
I am trying to installed RedHat 7.1.
I have been using RedHat 6.2 with no problem and have not added any new hardware since my RH 6.2 install.
My comp specs are:
K6-2 400 MHz
128 RAM
Voodoo3 2000 Video
Asus P5A motherboard (COUNTLESS problems with UDMA!)
SB128 Sound Card
Generic 44x CD-ROM (the one I am booting RH 7.1 from).
Mitsumi 4802 TE CD/RW
10.2 GB WD Caviar
So.. my problem is that the install hangs when it tries to do
/sbin/loader
Now, I've looked at the other consoles... and it appears that my CD/RW is timing out.
I have noticed that RH 7.1 recognizes my CD/RW as a DVD-DRIVE on startup... whereas, it was always recognized as a CD/RW in RH 6.2 all the way down to about RH 4.2...
Soo... my guess is that my Mitsumi CD/RW is somehow being recognized incorrectly as a DVD-ROM drive... and causing the time-out with /sbin/loader.
I've read other posts, and I am sure that disconnecting my CD/RW will allow me to install RH 7.1 and move on... but I would like a way to somehow install this without having to remove the drive.
Does anyone have any bright ideas on this subject manner?
Thank you,
John
