hiya folks, i installed sawfish and metacity, how do i change the x-window thing from kde to sawfish or metacity? as i can't see it under Session on the logon screen
sawfish and metacity are window managers, whereas KDE is a desktop environment (and uses window manager under it to handle stuff...probably your KDE uses metacity as default, I guess..could be wrong, though).
try looking at KDE's Kontrol Center (was it typed like that?) for the changing of Window manager, or if you want to run just the plain window manager, you'll have to do that differentially....I'd do it by disabling KDM/GDM (the graphical logon screen), and editing $HOME/.xinitrc so it startx sawfish or something else instead of KDE....
forgot to mention, that there are (in my opinion, of course) better WMs too than metacity or sawfish...like fluxbox, for example - I think it's great, fast and works..the main needs ok, I can't guarantee you'll like that since it's everybody is different..but try it out, if you like to run WM instead of a desktop environment..you'll get a faster GUI environment that way
