Saving downloads to floppy on Gnome Desktop (invalid URI)?
Trying to download a device driver (or anything else), and save it to my floppy drive. I tried dropping it on the floppy drive and recieved an error, Invalid URI. That's all it said. Is there a program for this? New to Linux, laymans terms please. Gnome 2.14.3, Ubuntu 6.06. Thanks.:newbie:

What program are you using to download this driver?

not sure, is the floppy formatted correctly?

Doing this the drag-n-drop way goes something like this;
From the top bar(whatever it's called?) click on places-> computer. There should be a large floppy icon and also a smaller floppy icon to the left (on a sort of sidebar). If the floppy needs to be formatted the option can be found with a right click. When you have a formatted floppy double click the smaller floppy icon on the left. This will "mount" the floppy. In a short while a new icon should appear on the desktop. Now you should be able to do the drop. Do NOT remove the floppy before "unmounting", available as a right click option. Can't tell you if this is the simplest gui way but it is workable. |
Whoops!
I'm totally new to linux. After I learned about mounting and unmounting, I realized I forgot to format! Then when I did I realized I just had a bad disk (Note to SELF, your an idiot.), but all panned out. Thanks for the help.:study:
