samba3 ,cpu usages high and speed slowly..

i use windows xp copy many files to linux through samba,or big size file,what will have this problem....
cpu usages very high , and so slow, just have 1xMb/s,but i am using 100Mb/s lan card both pc

i am using mdk 10 and P3 733 CPU

but when i use ftp to upload ,use private ip,i have over 5MB/s and cpu usages lower...

why samba will have this problem?

How did you install samba? I would recommend compiling samba from source for it to be optimal in your running system.

Also, you might want to look at your samba logs (ie. smbd.log and nmbd.log) to see what might be the issue with the latency and high CPU usage.
